We use all kinds of techniques when creating our bags. Some of them are even invented specifically for a bag by our highly skilled leather craftsmen in India. However, these are some of the leather techniques we use more often.
Embossing
The art of creating raised patterns on the natural grain of an animal skin using pressing, rolling or stamping. Embossments can cover the entire surface of a skin or just selected areas.
Whipstitch
Sewing with overcast stitches. Whipstitch is often seen on vintage bags, and in the same way we often use the technique to create a vintage look or western vibe.
Braiding
The structure of interlacing three or more strands in a zigzagging manner to form a string. DAY&MOOD creates all sorts of braids using different numbers of strands to create narrow or wide braids. Moreover, the braids can be both round, flat and square.
Stitching
Creating a pattern simply by sewing stitches of thread. Any pattern can be created using this technique, however it is most useful creating simple patterns.
Weaving
When two or more separate leather pieces are interlaced to form a full leather fabric. This technique can be used to create various looks depending on the size and number of the leather pieces.
Fringes
Really more of a decorative design detail than an actual technique. Fringes are strips of leather fastened to the border of a bag or flap. They are used to create a vintage or western look.
